Fifteen ICMA members will be selected to participate in an Esri-ICMA Local Government White Boarding Exercise to identify the data and design elements for apps that are most desired by local government executives. The focus of this exercise will be on delivery of human services.

The exercise will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2015 on the Esri Campus in Redlands, California. Based on designs developed through this day-long exercise, Esri will work with ICMA to develop several new apps for distribution to local governments. Full travel scholarships will be provided to applicants selected to participate in the exercise.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Minimum of 3 years of membership in ICMA.

2. Senior executive experience defined as serving as a city, county, or town manager or assistant manager.

3. A demonstrated commitment to the local government management profession. Evidence of such a commitment includes but is not limited to service to ICMA, state or other professional associations; contributions to the body of knowledge about current issues through writing or teaching about local government issues; support for the ICMA Fund for Professional Management; consistent career professional development; attainment of the ICMA Credentialed Manager designation (desired, but not required).

4. Exemplary leadership and service to local government. Awards and recognition for programmatic success and leadership and/or recognition by leadership within the organization or community for significant contributions help to define exemplary leadership and service.

5. Prior approval of the employer to participate in the program.

6. Ability to participate in the full day-long exercise on May 14, 2015.

7. Successful completion of the application including a description of your local government’s GIS program and available data sets for use in development new apps.

8. The successful candidate agrees to fulfill any post session requirements as designed by the committee intended to contribute to the advancement of leadership, the profession and its body of knowledge. This includes submission of a short article (700-800 words) on lessons learned from the exercise.
