Survey of Middle East Studies Career Trajectories and Work Situations |
Introduction
The Middle East Studies Association is conducting a survey in MESA-related fields in the US and Canada. This is an anonymous survey. The purpose of the survey is to:
1) establish baseline statistics on employment in MES as of fall 2013;
2) determine the extent and nature of employment opportunities in MES, particularly inside but also outside the academy (over the last ten years);
3) get a sense of the aspirations of students in order to compare them with (to be determined) employment realities;
4) get a sense of the state of academic freedom among all instructional faculty and other academics;
5) glean additional information about language professionals and about language usage by those in MES-related employment.
Please share this survey with your MESA-related colleagues in North America who may or may not be actual members of MESA.
