Introduction:
I will be conducting research on the perceptions and satisfaction of doctoral students in CACREP accredited counselor education programs regarding their research mentoring relationships. This form will give you additional information about this research. Please ask any questions that you may have about the research as you read over this form and throughout the research process. If you choose to participate in this study it will take 15 minutes to complete the surveys online.
Purpose of the research:
The purpose of this research study is to explore the perceptions and satisfaction regarding the research mentoring relationships of doctoral students in CACREP accredited counselor education programs. Specifically, this study aims to understand the mentor roles utilized, the classification of productivity of doctoral students, and their level of satisfaction within the mentoring relationship experience.
Type of research:
This research will involve your participation in one time survey through the web-based tool Survey Monkey.
Participant selection:
You are being asked to participate in this study because you are a doctoral student in a CACREP accredited program.
Voluntary participation:
Your participation in this research is completely voluntary. It is your choice whether to participate or not. You may change your mind at a later date and you may refuse or discontinue participation at any time without consequence or prejudice.
Duration:
This study will take place during the Spring 2014 academic semester, beginning after Institutional Review Board approval and ending approximately April 2014.
Risks:
Although there is minimal risk associated with participating in the study, there is a possibility that participants will feel uncomfortable engaging in this study. If your participation in this research has caused you to feel uncomfortable in any way, or if the research prompted you to consider personal matters about which you are concerned, I encourage you to contact a local mental health agency.
