Introduction

This Questionnaire is aiming to collect information about interferences between radio devices and cable or equipment connected to broadband wired networks or cable television networks in house. Collected information will be analysed to be used to draft new Recommendation ITU-T K.mhn “Techniques to mitigate interference between radio devices and cable or equipment connected to wired broadband networks and cable television networks”.

Along with the advances in radio communication technologies, possible interference between in- home-use radio devices and cable or equipment connected to wired broadband networks and cable television networks may create a new phenomenon of interference between radio devices and telecommunication devices.

Recommendation ITU-T K.mhn is expected to give guidance to solve interference problems in home networking, produced by radio devices and cable or equipment connected to wired broadband networks and/or cable television networks. It is also expected to provide appropriate measures to be applied to the cable and the equipment connected to wired broadband networks (e.g. Asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL), Very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line (VDSL), and Power Line telecommunications (PLT)) and/or cable television networks for solving the interference as well as to provide procedures to address these issues.

Interference between radio services and cable or equipment connected to broadband wired networks or cable television networks in home has been experienced by some telecommunication operators however there is insufficient information related to this phenomenon.

Objective

Question 8/5 is responsible for developing Recommendations relating to EMC requirements in home networks. This Questionnaire aims to collect information about interferences between radio devices and cable or equipment connected to broadband wired networks or cable television networks in the home. Obtained information will be studied for description of draft new Recommendation K,mhn “Techniques to mitigate interference between radio devices and cable or equipment connected to wired broadband networks and cable television networks”.
