Jointly Provided Activity Statement
The 2014 Lifeline Annual Physician Operators Forum is a Jointly Provided Activity by Saint Thomas Health and Lifeline Vascular Access.

Objective Wording:
Upon completion of this activity you will be able to:

• Examine the seven policy recommendations that guide the measurement of performance and outcomes.

• Use available software to optimize Meaningful Use and PQRS reporting.

• Examine strategies to maintain excellence in dialysis access management.

• Examine treatment strategies for PAD and PVD in order to determine the most appropriate treatment for the individual patient.

• Describe the “why” and “how” of PD catheter placement, how to troubleshoot common problems, and work with surgeons to have them placed in all clinically appropriate patient candidates.

• Devise strategies to handle unplanned dialysis starts with modality education before initiation of dialysis and possibly avoid CVC placement

• Appropriately apply best demonstrated practices to PD placement procedures in order to decrease infectious and malfunction risks in home hemodialysis and avoid hospitalization.

• Discuss the pros and cons of the various alternate sites for AV access.

• Examine the pros and cons of the various uses of stents in the treatment of your CKD patients with stenosis.

• Discuss the chronic kidney disease basics including hemodialysis stenosis, cephalic arch architecture, stent architecture/design, and pharmacologic adjuvant treatment.

• Examine the impact of high flow AVF on cardiac function and the risk of developing high output heart failure.

• Examine AVF non-maturation including the basic biology, longitudinal assessment, clinical evaluation and clinical management.

• Discuss functional AV Fistulas in obese patients.

• Examine the various ways Buttonholes can be created and determine use in appropriate patients.

• Develop management strategies to prevent, reduce the progression, and treat aneurysms before development of complications.

• Discuss the evidence for use of prophylactic antibiotics.

• Examine advantages and disadvantages of newer AVG materials.
