DIASPORA VOICE was created by Irish in Britain (Federation of Irish Societies) to encourage a strong Irish overseas response to the year-long review of Bunreacht na hEireann - Ireland's Constitution. The Irish Government has laid some issues before the Convention, but promises an open debate with an independent chair, two-thirds independent members drawn from the general public and one third members representing political parties from Ireland, north and south.
Throughout the year, the Convention is looking at issues from same-sex marriage to votes for Irish citizens living overseas. The Government is required to consider its recommendations and, where agreement is reached, set a timetable for a referendum.
DIASPORA VOICE is raising awareness of the Convention process among community groups, reaching out to the wider community and encouraging participation of the new generation of Irish migrants. We want to highlight the contribution and potential role of the Irish Abroad and press the case for better representation in Irish public life.
Please take 5 minutes to tell us what you think. Your opinions and thoughts are important and will help to shape our feedback to the Convention.
Once completed please send the link to your friends and family living overseas.
