BirdSleuth Afterschool Evaluation: Focus Groups |
1. Yes, I'd like to help you conduct a focus group!
We are looking for up to 5 out-of-school-time programs to help us understand how students interpret and respond to nature/science-related surveys. As an evaluator, you agree to allow a our Cornell Lab evaluator to interview groups of 6-10 youth about surveys we have developed. These interviews will take no more than an hour. You will get the Nature Detectives curriculum, but you don't have to use it before the interviews take place.
Requirements:
* Your participants must be between 9-13 years old and be taking part in a program that takes place after school or over the summer (for example, as part of a summer camp).
* You should be able to collect the parental permission forms we provide prior to the focus group. We need between 6-10 youth who will participate in the group (the interview will take less than and hour).
* The focus group must take place before August 1, 2012 (but you don't have to teach the curriculum before then).
* Only programs that reach underserved and/or minority youth are eligible.
* Only programs within about a 4-hour drive of Ithaca, NY are eligible (i.e. all of NY state, parts of Pennsylvania and Ohio, etc.).
As a thank you for organizing the focus groups, the group leader will be given a $50 gift card.
