ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATORS (AIEA)
A SURVEY ON SENIOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION OFFICERS, THEIR INSTITUTIONS AND OFFICES
Updated 2014 by C.K. Kwai (University of Maine) and AIEA
INTRODUCTION
The Senior International Education Officer (SIO) is the core of the AIEA membership— the “institutional leader engaged in the advancement of internationalization.” As such, she or he is often expected to be all things for all people concerned with internationalization on a college or university campus. In order to track the evolving nature of the SIO position, AIEA is conducting an update to its 2006 and 2011 surveys. The survey is designed to gather benchmark information about institutions, their international offices, and SIOs themselves as leaders, administrators, and professionals. The survey also assesses the importance of key characteristics (knowledge, experience, skills) in carrying out the role of SIO.
