One physician insist printing out chat round check list and everyone sign his/her part on paper. Neurologist cannot co-sign plan electronically with oncologist in ARIA.

Slow transition to paperless should be complete soon. No connection between rad onc OIS and hospital EMR causing duplicate work

Faxed papers from outside need to be stopped and that will be force everyone go paperless. Many physician office still using paper chart that has to be changed to paperless.

I am an advocate of paperless charting. The main issue is keeping and intuitive as simple as possible. Paper charts were pretty much universal and easy to understand. Things were generally where they belonged. We should not have to make 10 clicks to find the prescription and treatment history to date. Stepping down from my soapbox now...

Printed written directive is created by MD. Used by dosimeter, therapists, nursing.

People will always scribble notes but the medical record is and should be fully electronic
7/31/2018 04:19 PM
No records are kept on paper. It is only used to reference in consults/chart rounds, etc.

anything that starts as a paper( like some sign off's in the OR) gets scanned in. Everything else is pdf to begin with or part of aria
7/31/2018 02:25 PM
We should be paperless
7/31/2018 02:15 PM
Paperless operations is a means to an end-greater productivity, increased safety and quality. It's not an end in itself. With the current radiation therapy products on the market, going paperless with certain procedures does not meet intended goals. Keeping some paper-based activity may be more prudent and should not be seen as inferior option, so long as one is focused on specified goals: increased productivity, safety, clear documentation. Food for thought: How many commercial radiation therapy vendors have incorporated functional (not marketing fluff) tablet- and smartphone-based features into their products?
