How do you feel about the use of electroshock as punishment for disabled children and adults? (NeuroClastic may use some or all of your comments in future publications about Judge Rotenberg Center. You have the option to remain anonymous or to skip this question).

I’m scared and angry and sad. We’re not dogs, we’re thinking, feeling people. Isn’t it obvious that you shouldn’t electrocute people for things that are normal and healthy? I don’t want this for my neurotype. I don’t want this.

It makes me feel sick to think about. No human deserves to be treated as if they are not one. The fact that some people encourage, promote, and carry this out is terrifying and horrific.
6/3/2024 07:42 AM
In short, I think it's terrible. It's unsafe and inhumane, it violates the basic human rights to protection from harm, as the government is supposed to provide and 8th Amendment right. It is a cruel punishment that is being used where it is not warranted because there is no situation where this is acceptable. We are human just like everyone else and deserve to be able to exist as we are without being harmed just for existing as we are. We don't need punishment, we need to be able to communicate and participate and LIVE in a society that was not built for us, and that means accessibility services, understanding, and awareness, but what we definitely don't need is electroshock when we are already facing so many difficulties trying to survive through prejudice, hate, and discrimination. I shouldn't have to be writing this for people to understand that this is completely and totally wrong, but here I am having to explain basic logic and human rights to people up to 4 times my age. So, yeah, I think that using electroshock as punishment for disabled people needs to stop.

This is completely unacceptable. This is torture. This is a violation of human rights. This is abuse. This is traumatizing. This is unacceptable, and these people should be punished with the worst punishments the law has to offer.
12/2/2023 02:48 PM
This is barbaric and absolutely unnecessary. There's no justification for a practice like this in this day and age.
12/1/2023 05:14 PM
Punishing needs out of people will never work, nor is it at all humane. We are seeing a shift from a culture of fear-based compliance to a culture of care and this is undoing the good work of inclusion that has been done.
9/13/2023 09:51 AM
It is absolutely abhorrent and a perfect summary of why I dislike most neurotypical humans.
6/16/2023 01:18 PM
I’m livid that this continues to this day. How does this help anyone?! It tortures and traumatizes. If you use electric shock to “treat” your patients, there must be something inherently wrong with you. I would invite these terrible “therapists” to reach out to a mental health professional to help them with their psychotic and harmful thoughts and actions to humans.

My name is Colin Campbell, and I am a 15 (Nearly 16) year old autistic who will gladly do whatever I can to end this violation of human rights and torture of innocent children.

I fit some other descriptions but in this case just being human is enough.
