Yakama Nation Head Start Employees

Yakama Nation Head Start employees enrolling in College in Early Childhood Education Certificates and degrees in Early Childhood Education may receive Staff Development Assistance, Tribal Scholarship, Bureau of Indian Education Higher Education Grant, and/or Adult Vocational Training Grant.

Award Amounts
  • Head Start staff Development Assistance for Associates degrees ($2,000/calendar year for tuition & fees | maximum lifetime total assistance $6,000)
  • Yakama Nation Tribal Scholarship for Yakama Enrolled ($1,500/fiscal year + summer if needed for graduation)
  • Bureau of Indian Education Higher Education Grant for Yakama Enrolled ($2,000/fiscal year + summer if needed for graduation)
  • Adult Vocational Training Grant for ECE Certificate or CDL Bus Driving available to anybody enrolled in a US federally recognized tribe (Tuition + Fees + Books + Monthly Stipend | maximum lifetime assistance of 24 months).
Eligibility:
  • be employed by the Yakama Nation Head Start
  • be a continuing student in good standing (2.0 GPA)
  • Submit a complete application
Incomplete scholarship applications will not be considered. All applications are reviewed and recommended for approval to the Yakama Nation Tribal Council Education (LEEH) Committee as required by Tribal Resolution T-111-13.
