Introduction

Benefiting from a grant of over £900,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund seven years ago, Wyndham Park in Grantham continues to go from strength to strength.

Funding the restoration of original features in the park including the Memorial Arch, the old Ticket Office and Memorial Shelter, the original grant also met the costs of new facilities, including the Visitor Centre. Thanks to grants and donations from local charities and organisations over the years, as well as investment from SKDC, Wyndham Park continues to benefit from a regular and targeted schedule of improvement.

Informed by feedback from the annual survey of park users, improvements actioned in 2024/25 include:
  • The planting of poppies and purple tulips for remembrance – an area of the park near the archway entrance set aside for re-wilding
  • Members of the public now able to sail “pay as you go” model boats at specified times, thanks to Grantham Model Boat Club. Availability publicised on Wyndham Park’s Facebook page and Grantham Model Boat Club’s Facebook page
  • Transformation of the flower bed at the side of the archway into a woodland area. A shaded location, it is planted with various ferns, cyclamens and assorted bulbs.

The park is also the venue for several events for the local community. These include a Halloween Spooktacular – organised by SKDC – which will take place on Sunday 27 October, and a Rotary Club’s Santa Fun Run- scheduled to take place on Sunday 8 December.
