Thank you for your interest in the Scholastic Awards!

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers is seeking jurors for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Awards give students opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. In 2024, more than 110,000 teens across the United States and Canada entered more than 340,000 original works in 28 different categories of art and writing.

Being a juror is a unique opportunity to encourage and understand the next generation of creatives, alongside other enthusiastic art and literary professionals.

Writing Jurors
National writing adjudication will occur online and asynchronously from January 21–February 6, 2025. All scores are due February 6, 5:00 pm ET. National writing jurors who complete their adjudication obligations receive a $100 honorarium.

Jurors are assigned across a variety of categories.

Art Jurors
Art jurors must be local to the New York City area, as adjudication takes place in person at the Scholastic Inc. offices in Manhattan. National art adjudication will take on various dates between January 21–February 13, 2025, including Saturdays. You will have a chance to indicate your availability later in this form; jurors will be assigned one date to serve, though you can elect to participate on multiple dates if you prefer.

The daily schedule is 9:30 am ET to approximately 4:00 pm ET.

Art jurors who complete their adjudication obligations receive a $250 honorarium. (The art honorarium is higher than the writing honorarium due to additional scheduled time commitment, including commute, etc.).

Answers to the following questions will help us understand how you can best participate in the Awards. We are seeking jurors who represent a spectrum of professional experience, so please answer honestly. Having less formal experience will not necessarily lower your chances of being chosen to be a juror. We inquire because we try to build diverse adjudication panels.

The deadline to complete this survey is November 21. We will only consider surveys completed after that date as needed. All applicants will receive an update regarding their selection status in late December.
