Introduction

This survey has been designed to capture the views, experiences, professional needs and aspirations of actuaries. It should take around 15 minutes to complete.

Throughout the survey we refer to “real actuaries”, a term coined by the 2021 Actuaries Institute (Australia) President Jefferson Gibbs to describe all actuaries in our profession, irrespective of their roles and the industries they serve.

We also refer to “traditional areas” of actuarial practice, defined for the purpose of this survey as insurance (life, general/P&C and health), reinsurance, pensions/ superannuation and financial services (including investments, wealth management and banking).

We have asked questions about you to help ensure that the survey findings are broadly representative of the profession, as well as to see whether views vary by the different characteristics of actuaries, such as age and experience level.

Most questions have space for free text answers. If you would like to contribute more insights, or be interviewed to answer further questions, please include your contact details where prompted.

While you may provide contact details to share additional information, your response will be de-identified for analysis purposes and aggregated when presenting results. Your identified response will not be shared with anyone outside the survey team without your permission.

If you have any questions or need support in relation to this survey please contact us on info@GuardianActuarial.com.au

Thank you, from Ryan Boyd, Matt Webster and Julia Lessing.
