Welcome

Treaty settlement negotiations between the Whanganui Land Settlement Negotiations Trust (WLSNT) and the Crown are now nearing their conclusion and are expected to be finalised in early 2025. While no settlement can fully compensate for past injustices, the Whanganui land settlement that is being negotiated acknowledges the wrongs of the past and charts a positive course for the future.
Ahead of the settlement being finalised, the council has been asked to consider three initiatives that will provide a platform of work for the wellbeing of Whanganui hapū/iwi and the wider Whanganui community.

Below you will have an opportunity to provide feedback ahead of when the council will consider these initiatives in February 2025. Please read more information on our website
