TUCKSHOPThe WESS P&C Tuckshop provides a range of cost effective, nutritious meals for students on Monday – Friday throughout the school terms. Volunteers help to keep costs down and provide friendly faces at break time. Kids love seeing their parent and carers helping at their much-loved Tuckshop. No cooking or baking experience necessary! SWIM CLUBWESS P&C run a swim club in Term 1 & Term 4, this is a volunteer run activity and needs support to continue. PARENT CLASS REPRESENTATIVESEach class from prep to year 3 has up to two Parent Representatives who support the class teachers to communicate with parents/carers about anything affecting the class. From years 4 to 6 there are whole year level Parent Reps. Parent Reps forward communication from the P&C regarding upcoming events , they welcome new families to WESS and organise class/year level social events (once per term) to help build closer connections and a sense of community.I would like to be a 2024 Parent Rep for my child’s class or year level: Prep class Year 1 class Year 2 class Year 3 class Year 4 year level Year 5 year level Year 6 year level If multiple year levels, please write in here Question Title * 6. LANGUAGE COMMUNITY PARENT REPRESENTATIVEDid you know half of WESS families speak another language other than English at home? Can you help the P&C connect with more parents & carers? I would like to be a Language Community Parent Rep in 2024 for one of our top spoken languages: Vietnamese Chinese Hindi Russian Spanish Arabic Persian Portuguese Korean Other Language If you can assist with multiple language groups Question Title * 7. P&C EXECUTIVEThe P&C Executive Committee oversee P&C business and volunteer activities. They make up the leadership team of the P&C. Every year at our March AGM all membership lapse and new Executive members are voted in. Members must sign up again annually (for insurance purposes) and new members are accepted. Full role descriptions for P&C Executive roles are available in the P&C Guide. Briefly, the responsibilities for each role are: President: Jack of all trades. Good communication, organisation and leadership skills. Able to delegate to others and see things from many points of view. Able to chair meetings in a timely and respectful manner. Overseeing and responsible for most P&C business and volunteer activities. Vice-President/s: Up to two VPs to support the President to build strong relationships with staff and volunteers, work on fundraising, events and communication support as required. VPs support the President and step into that role on occasions if required. Treasurer: Responsible for assisting with budgeting and financial reporting, close liaison with the P&C Business Manager & P&C Finance Officer (a paid Non-Executive roles). Accounting qualifications are highly desirable, but not required for this role. Secretary: Maintains the P&C membership register. Coordinates the agenda for P&Cmeetings, takes minutes and distributes minutes to members. Responsible for Membership communication. Monitors P&C correspondence and assists the President to respond to enquiries, and ensures annual P&C update documentation is completed and sent to the Department of Education after the AGM. SPECIAL SKILL CONTRIBUTIONWe want people to feel enabled to contribute to the community in the ways that best suit their capacity and capabilities, we get that not everyone wants to work the democracy sausage sizzle! Our school community has a variety of expertise in many different fields that would be incredible valuable for us to be able to call upon from time to time. Want to share your professional skills, hobbies, and interests with the community?Some previous examples to spark your inspiration:- Coordinated a Greek Dancing group within the school for the past 10 years- Barrister Dad who comes to the school once a year to talk to senior years about Law and Governance- Allied Health professionals who have advised on our learning spaces- Parents with a passion for a sport have provided their coaching and technical skills to students and teachers - Organised a book donation drive- Artist painted a mural- Led weekly craft making- Created an app to help time swim club run more efficiently- Cyber Security Experts who provided online safety presentations- Created and maintained a community garden …if you’ve ever had an idea of how to improve the school, this is your chance to use your skills and passions to make a difference.
