You are invited to take part in a study validating a new Doctoral Writing Assessment and Efficacy Inventory. You were chosen for the study because you are a doctoral student or have a doctorate. This form is part of a process called “informed consent” to allow you to understand this study before deciding whether to take part. 

Researchers Drs. Lee Stadtlander and Amy Sickel, who are faculty members at Walden University, are conducting this study.

Background Information:

The purpose of this study is to validate the new writing inventory along with other surveys. We will use these surveys in a future study.

Procedures:

If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to complete a series of surveys, which should take a total of about 20-30 minutes.

Voluntary Nature of the Study:

Your participation in this study is voluntary. This means that everyone will respect your decision of whether or not you want to be in the study. No one will treat you differently if you decide not to be in the study. If you decide to join the study now, you can still change your mind during the study. You may skip any questions that you feel are too personal.

Risks and Benefits of Being in the Study:

Risks are minimal, you may feel that some questions are too personal, and are welcome to skip any that make you uncomfortable. There are no direct benefits, other than the opportunity to participate in a psychological study.

Compensation:

As a thank you for participating, you will have the opportunity to receive a $10 Starbuck's gift card at the end of the surveys.

Confidentiality:

Any information you provide will be kept confidential. The researcher will not use your information for any purposes outside of this research project. In addition, the researcher will not include your name or anything else that could identify you in any reports of the study.
