The ACP Training Programme offers two training courses.
ACP L1A One-Day Workshop - this training will help you:
- explore the New Zealand legal framework and where ACP sits within it
- explore ethical challenges in ACP and how this impacts on your practice
- improve the way you translate and capture ACP conversations in documentation
- take part in basic/uncomplicated ACP conversations
Who should attend L1A one-day workshop?
Healthcare professionals i.e. doctors, nurses and allied health workers looking after patients, particularly those with long-term-conditions, in hospitals, community health settings and residential aged care facilities.
ACP L2 Two-day Practitioner Training - this training will help you learn/develop communication skills to effectively initiate and participate in ACP conversations including:
- responding effectively during challenging ACP conversations
- responding effectively when emotions are high
- supporting a person to say what is important to them
- translating what is important to a person into clear end-of-life care preferences
- appropriately exploring a person’s choice not to participate in
an ACP conversation - planning and setting up an ACP conversation/s
