Rep. Melanie Morgan is interested in having a discussion about the use of the term "minority" that is often used to describe communities of color. According to the US Census Bureau*, at current rates and predictions, non-Hispanic White Americans will no longer be the largest ethnic group in the country and America will not have a single "majority" ethnic group in the coming decades. Because of that change over time, identifying more appropriate language is important to continue our work to advance equity in Washington state.
