Photographic and Video Consent

We use photographs (photos) and videos for a number of reasons including celebrating and recording children’s successes.

If you provide consent for the use of your child’s photos, we may publish them on display boards around the school, within school publications, including prospectuses, flyers, leaflets, brochures and school newsletters and bulletins, on our school website, on promotional material, such as banners, signs and displays, as part of adverts or articles in the local press, such as council magazines and local newspapers, and on social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

In addition, once a year, a school photographer will visit the school and take individual and group photos of the children, which will be made available to purchase. Reminders will be sent in good time prior to the photographer’s visit. The group photos will be made available for other parents to purchase. Usually, pupils will not be named in the photographs, unless the school has asked for, and the parents have given, specific consent in the first instance.

Please note that we will ask for further consents if they do not fall under the categories listed above.

You can withdraw your consent at any time and can do so by writing to Reception@brentsidehigh.ealing.sch.uk asking the school to stop using your child’s images. From that point your child’s photos will no longer be used in future publications, but we cannot prevent them from continuing to appear in publications already in circulation.

Question Title

* 49. I DO give consent for my child's photographs/videos to be taken

Biometric Consent

Biometric systems convert personal biological measurements or physical characteristics into a unique code used to identify an individual.

The school canteen uses a scanner to convert points on your child’s finger/thumb into a unique biometric code, which is stored by a software provider called Civica. It is not a fingerprint in any way, shape or form and is not shared with the school or any other party. Your child’s code will be automatically erased from the system when they leave Brentside High School.

When a student places their finger/thumb on the scanner, the system identifies their account and allows them to purchase food and drinks, removing the need for cash or lunch cards.
