Introduction
South Kesteven District Council is currently preparing its budget for the financial year 2025/26. In common with many other organisations in both the public and the private sector, this is not without its challenges. The withdrawal of the Rural Services Delivery Grant, announced on 30th October 2024, is projected to reduce the amount of funding the Council receives by about £400,000 per year.
The revenue we raise from Council Tax is one of our main sources of income. To ensure that we are in a position where we can continue to protect and maintain the services we currently provide, we are proposing to increase our element of Council Tax from April 2025 by 3% for the financial year 2025/26 (per Band D). This equates to an average increase of £5.51 for a Band D property in 2025/26. Households in other bands would be subject to an increase proportionate to the Band D average.
This increase, if approved, will generate around £354,000 of additional funding.
To help you decide if you can support this increase or not, we have included some information on how SKDC funds services, what we’ve been working on and what we have planned. It is important that you have a say on the level of funding we will have available.
Please spare us a few minutes to complete this survey and let us know what you think.
Thank you.
