The IPBES-IPCC co-sponsored workshop report on biodiversity and climate change, published in 2021, explains that "climate change and biodiversity loss are two of the most pressing issues of the Anthropocene. The research community dedicated to investigating the climate system is somewhat, but not completely, distinct from that which studies biodiversity. Each issue has its own international Convention (the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity), and each has an intergovernmental body which assesses available knowledge (the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES))."

The RESPIN project (REinforcing Science-Policy INterfaces for integrated biodiversity and climate knowledge and policies) is looking to improve the uptake of existing knowledge on biodiversity and climate in decision-making and to strengthen collaboration between IPBES and IPCC. To do so, RESPIN aims to identify gaps in the knowledge provision and develop ideas for how to improve the engagement of experts. The main objective of this questionnaire is to understand barriers and incentives to the engagement of knowledge holders in IPBES and IPCC processes.

We therefore invite contributors / potential contributors to / end users of IPBES or IPCC to please fill this survey. You can be an individual scientist, knowledge holder (including indigenous people and local communities) as well as representing an institution, organisation and group working in the field of biodiversity and/or climate.

The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Please note that the session cannot be saved, so you should not close the browser window before finishing filling the questionnaire. Your contribution will directly influence the development of targeted actions to improve experts engagement in both processes. You will be able to notify at the end of the questionnaire if you would like to follow the RESPIN project (including how your answers will be used) and be contacted in the future for RESPIN events (webinars, guide, etc.).

By filling this you autorise the project RESPIN to use your data, in compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules.
