National Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme

Join the fight to protect children.

A National Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme is needed in Australia to save innocent children from the evil of child abuse perpetrators.

In August 2022, the Australian Institute on Criminology handed down a report I commissioned on recidivist (repeat) child sex offending.

The report revealed tragic facts that:
• Offenders are mostly someone known to the victim;
• 66 – 82% of incidents occurred in a residential location;
• 51 – 61% of incidents involved a family member or known person in or around the home;
• Recidivist offenders almost always target new victims; and
• The average length of time between offences ranged from 4.7 to 6.6 years.

Read the report: https://www.aic.gov.au/publications/rr/rr24                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Based on the AIC data, I support a National Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme as I believe it would improve protection for families and children by enabling parents and carers to enquire as to whether a registered sex offender has access to their children.
