Review of our Governing Documents – Members have your say!
As a charity, Garden Organic’s governance is entrusted to the Trustees, who are elected by the members to be their representatives. We have a governing document called the Memorandum and Articles of Association (or M&A for short). To see our current M&A document, click here
The Trustees have confirmed there is a need to update our M&A, to take account of recent changes in charity and company legislation, and also to ensure that our governing document remains valid and relevant for the future. Useful information and guidance on how changes have affect M&A documents has been published by the Charity Commission and can be read click here
The Trustees plan to use a ‘model’ M&A that has been produced by the Charity Commission for our updated M&A. This can be viewed by clicking here. This model M&A, which was produced in 2006, and is known in this survey as ‘The 2006 model M&A’ gives us certain options to consider, and the Trustees have been considering this for some time. The Survey questions are based on that work.
By completing the survey below, you can be sure that your voice is heard.
Garden Organic is proud to be a membership organisation and the Trustees want to engage as widely as possible, so that any changes to our M&A are fit and proper for our members. Many of you may already have taken part in our Members Survey earlier this year, or attended our Members Conference in May. This consultation survey follows on from this important engagement work to ensure that Garden Organic serves the need of our membership well.
