Hello! Our names are Colleen Jones and Steve Smith. We are independent researchers conducting a study seeking to deepen our understanding of the current experiences of sign language interpreters in the United States. The results of this study may be used in reports, presentations, or publications.
If you are over 18 and worked as a sign language interpreter in the United States during 2024, we are inviting you to participate, regardless of certification, membership status, job title, or specific industry. You will be asked to answer questions about yourself, your work, and your 2024 rates and income. The survey should take you no more than about 20 minutes.
Your participation in this study is voluntary. There is no penalty if you choose not to participate or to withdraw from the study. You may withdraw from the survey anytime while responding to the questionnaire. You can close your browser, and your submitted responses will not be collected.
Confidentiality: Only the researchers, Colleen Jones and Steve Smith, will have access to data collected for this research. Your responses will be confidential. Identifying information such as your name, email address, and IP address will not be collected. As additional protection of your anonymity, results from this study will only be presented in aggregate, not individual, formats.
Risks and Benefits: This research study involves minimal risk. The probability and extent of harm or discomfort anticipated in this study are no greater than those ordinarily encountered in everyday life or during routine psychological exams or tests. The findings from this study will help us understand the current experiences of sign language interpreters in the United States and identify areas for future research.
