WELCOME AND CONSENT

Welcome, and thank you for agreeing to take part in this survey about interdisciplinary peer review. Your responses are essential to this undertaking.

The survey takes between 20 and 30 minutes to complete, and will remain open until midnight EST on Sunday, May 31, 2016.
__

This survey is part of a research study conducted by David Danks, Denise Caruso, and Liam Bright at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and is funded by the James S. McDonnell Foundation.

The purpose of the research is to better understand the attitudes and expectations of researchers, proposers, reviewers and review panelists about peer review for interdisciplinary grant and project proposals. We are principally focused on individuals who have interacted with U.S.-based funding agencies or foundations, NGOs, etc., though anyone may participate in the survey.

In this survey, you will be asked about your recent experiences with peer review of interdisciplinary proposals. Survey responses will not be personally identifiable. We will not ask for identifiable information or for details about proposals, reviews, or panels that involved you. Your IP address will not be recorded.

The risks and discomfort associated with completing this survey are no greater than those ordinarily encountered in daily life or during other online activities. There may be no personal benefit from your participation in the study but the knowledge received may be of value to humanity, and may help to improve the grant-making process for interdisciplinary proposals.

There is no compensation for participation in this study, and there will be no cost to you if you participate. Participation is limited to individuals who are 18 years or older

By participating, you understand and agree that the data and information gathered during this study may be used by CMU and published and/or disclosed by CMU to others outside of CMU, including the survey funder (James S. McDonnell Foundation). We are required to keep all research data for a minimum of three (3) years.
