iSTART Screener
iSTART Substance Use Prevention Study PI: Bethany Rainisch This is an online screener that will determine your eligibility to participate in the iSTART substance use prevention study. Your responses to the screener are anonymous, will not be recorded, and are not reported to anyone. After completing the screener, eligible students will have a chance to consent to participate in confidential research.
RISKS AND DISCOMFORTS The possible risks and/or discomforts associated with taking this screener include: Psychological: You will be asked to answer questions about self-reported substance use behavior, which may upset you, or cause emotional distress or discomfort, especially if you have pre-existing emotional vulnerabilites. Social: You may feel judged by others if seen to be taking this screener. You can choose where you want to participate with your mobile device, in order to manage such social risks. If you should feel any discomfort or risk during or after taking this screener, please see the contact information at the end of this screener, or on our Resources page at CSUN.edu/istart/resources.
BENEFITS The possible benefits you may experience from taking this pre-screener is an opportunity to participate in the study or to learn whether you should seek further consultation regarding your substance use.
