ASU College of Health Solutions Research Study: Collecting Diet and Behavioral Data using Wearable Sensors and Mobile Devices for Machine Learning Analysis |
Survey
Researchers in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) are conducting a research study to investigate the effects of nutrition on different physiological parameters using wearable devices. We are recruiting healthy, non-smoking adults, who are 18-40 years of age. We are inviting your participation in the screening process, which will consist of answering questions regarding health history, demographics, and scheduling availability. This research will require seven days of monitoring, with three 10-hour visits to the test site located at the ASU Health Future Center or ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus and four days of home monitoring following your usual lifestyle. Participation will also require consuming personalized meals and snacks prepared for you during the three test-site study visits and being equipped with wearable devices, including a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). You have the right not to answer any question, and to stop participation at any time. Your participation in this screening process is voluntary. If you choose not to participate or to withdraw from the survey at any time, there will be no penalty. Your responses to this survey will not be linked to your name but may be used in aggregate form for publications and presentations. If you meet the criteria for this study, you will be contacted for further screening. If you have any questions concerning the research study, please contact the following doctoral students in the College of Health Solutions: Asiful Arefeen at aarefeen@asu.edu or Samantha Fessler at sfessler@asu.edu. You may also contact Dr Hassan Ghasemzadeh, ASU Professor who is leading this study at hassan.ghasemzadeh@asu.edu. If you have any questions about your rights as a subject/participant in this research, or if you feel you have been placed at risk, you can contact the Chair of the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board, through the ASU Office of Research Integrity and Assurance, at (480) 965-6788.
Completion of this survey will indicate your consent to participate in this screening. You will be contacted by investigators (via e-mail) to schedule an appointment, should you qualify.
