Resident and Community Stakeholders Survey

FY 2024 - 2028 Consolidated Plan and FY 2024-2025 Annual Action Plan

Every five years, the City of Canton submits a Consolidated Plan to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Plan is required to receive federal funds, particularly the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions (ESG) grant programs from HUD.

The Plan sets the City's strategic objectives and activities to address its housing and community development needs through federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from HUD and other sources. Then, for each year of the five years, the City must submit an Annual Action Plan for spending the CDBG grant it receives annually.

The City will receive an estimated $12.9m in CDBG funds, $2.8m in HOME funds, and $1.09m in ESG funds for the Fiscal Years (FYs) 2024 through 2028 to address housing and community development (HCD) needs. Eligible activities include public facilities and infrastructure improvements, public services, affordable housing development and preservation, homeless prevention and services, and economic development

Projects and activities must generally benefit low- and moderate-income households with incomes below 80% of the area median income (AMI).

We seek your help determining the housing and community development needs for CDBG, HOME, and ESG funding. As a resident or other community stakeholder, your response to this survey will help the City prioritize how the federal grants will be spent.
