While earthquake and tsunami hazards vary from region to region, the Virgin Islands is prone to earthquakes which, depending on their magnitude, could generate a tsunami. You could be anywhere when an earthquake or tsunami strikes: at home, at work, at school or even on vacation.
What you do now will determine your quality of life after the next earthquake or tsunami. Are you prepared to survive and recover quickly?
The annual CARIBE WAVE exercise is a good opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes: "Drop, Cover and Hold On" and tsunamis: "Move to higher ground."
Given the continued presence of COVID-19, vulnerable persons may wish to opt out of evacuating to high ground in large groups. However, all participants are encouraged to drop, cover and hold; and to discuss evacuation and assembly plans.

CARIBE WAVE 2024 has also been organised to encourage you, your community, your school, or your organisation to review and update earthquake and tsunami emergency preparedness procedures and to prevent loss of life, injury and damage.

Thank you for registering to participate in the CARIBE WAVE 2024 exercise.
