Park(ing) Day: 20th Street Design Feedback
Park(ing) Day is an international celebration that reclaims public space for people by making it friendlier, greener, and more comfortable. We invite you to experience the changes to 20th Street and share your feedback!
FURNITURE:
Moveable public seating has been added to allow flexible use of seating space. People feel more comfortable when they can scoot into the shade, or place a chair perfectly to work on a laptop.

RECLAIMED PEDESTRIAN SPACE:
A cut-out in the sidewalk has been brought up to grade to provide more public space for people to move, hang out, and add vibrancy downtown. The space also helps with drainage.

LANDSCAPING:
The plant beds and planters have been updated with low maintenance, native species to keep the streetscape looking beautiful and uniquely Birmingham.

FLEX ZONE:
A lane has been designated as a flex zone meaning it can adapt to different uses and needs. It could be a place for loading and unloading goods, valet parking, or even parking a food truck.
