In the summer of 2020, the City of Woodbury will be constructing Bailey Lake Park, a new park near the intersection of Dale Road and Woodbury Drive. This neighborhood park will primarily serve the Fair Haven, South Ridge and Summerlin neighborhoods.
The city strategically waits a few years for development to occur in an area before building neighborhood parks. This allows the city to incorporate feedback about preferred amenities and uses from current residents in the area, who will be the primary users of the parks. However, as development occurred faster than anticipated in the future Bailey Lake Park area, the city is moving up the construction of this new park from 2022 to 2020.
In addition, the city will be developing Summerlin Park this summer, which is a small park area located on Summerlin Drive.
The development of Bailey Lake Park and Summerlin Park is just a small part of a package of parks and trail improvements coming to southeast Woodbury. The future Glacial Valley Park will be a 250-acre community park to be constructed between Pioneer and Woodbury Drives, south of Dale Road. Preliminary plans for this park include natural surface trails, natural resource interpretation, and a small amphitheater.
For now, please take a minute to complete the brief survey about the Bailey Lake Park and Summerlin Park Projects. Your feedback will help the city develop preliminary park plans to present at a future neighborhood meeting this fall. The goal is to ensure the amenities at each new park complement each other. Additional details, including updated concept plans, are available on the city’s website at woodburymn.gov/parkprojects.
