AstroEdu Conference Format Survey

AstroEdu (https://www.astroeducon.org/) will be hosted by the Dunlap Institute at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada in May 2023. The conference will bring together scholars and practitioners of astronomy education from around the world to discuss opportunities and challenges in the field of astronomy education. Our goals are to make the conference inclusive and equitable to participants from all countries, while also reducing the carbon footprint of the meeting. We would like to gather feedback from the community about your preferred delivery format for this conference.

1.My preferred format for the conference is:

All sessions hosted exclusively in-person in Toronto

All sessions hosted both in-person and online (in Toronto's UTC -4 time zone)

All sessions hosted online-only, and all in the Toronto time zone (UTC -4)

All sessions hosted online-only, but distributed across global time zones (meaning that some sessions might run during the day time for you, and others in the middle of your night)

2.If you wish, please elaborate on your answer to question 1 above. We would like to take all perspectives into account.

4.If the conference is hosted with in-person elements, what is your preference regarding masking requirements?

I prefer that all attendees wear masks in all sessions, with exemptions for medical purposes only

I prefer that masks be required only if the local regulations require them

5.Where are you located? (We would like to get a sense of the geographic distribution of potential participants, which will help with scheduling online sessions.)

6.What are the biggest barriers to your participation in this meeting? For example, the cost of travel, obtaining a visa to visit Canada, accessibility of the venue, ease of participating remotely, availability of childcare, and so on.
