Exploring bereavement and emotional support provided by professionals to families affected by fatal or near-fatal anaphylaxis: a service evaluation |
Participant information
We would like to invite you to participate in this evaluation. You should only participate if you want to; choosing not to take part will not disadvantage you in any way. Before you decide whether you want to take part, it is important for you to understand why the evaluation is being done and what your participation will involve. If you have any questions, you can contact us using the contact details at the end of this information section.
What is the purpose of the evaluation?
To understand how healthcare professionals support families affected by fatal or near-fatal allergic reactions (anaphylaxis). While deaths from anaphylaxis are rare, they can have a lasting emotional impact on families involved.
We are specifically interested in:
Examining the current practices of healthcare professionals in providing bereavement and emotional support to families affected by fatal or near-fatal anaphylaxis.
Identifying challenges and gaps in existing support services as reported by healthcare professionals.
Exploring the unique support needs of families affected by fatal or near-fatal anaphylaxis, according to healthcare professionals.
Developing actionable recommendations for Anaphylaxis UK to guide service enhancements and professional training initiatives.
This will involve gathering feedback from professionals such as GPs, counsellors, and support group facilitators through an anonymous online survey. The survey will explore the types of emotional and practical support currently offered, the challenges professionals face, and any gaps in the support available.
The insights gained will help Anaphylaxis UK improve the resources and guidance they provide to both professionals and families. This includes creating better training programs for healthcare providers and ensuring families receive the care they need during such difficult times.
