Workplace Emerging Best Practices

Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC) and Mental Health Research Canada (MHRC) are working with our national and regional partners to support the workplaces of our country. We wish to do this by sharing what is showing positive results to support mentally healthy employment environments. We began by researching for best/ promising practices internationally and have finalized the Workplace Mental Health Strategies-A Search for Promising Practices report. The new research paper spotlights key facts internationally, but also leads to a real basic reality; we need to work together to better support all workplaces facing this significant mental health challenge.

We are looking at collecting information from Canadian workplaces, managers and staff so that we can highlight successful best and promising practices on our websites. The purpose of this project is to collect information from across the country, and to share key information for all Canadian workplaces on promising and successful programs, policies and supports that your workplaces have or are implementing that are helping your managers, staff, visitors, clients, members and students stay healthy. Tools that assist organizations to stay operational, mitigate risks and address mental illnesses and risks.

Please take (and share with others) this short (5-10 minute) survey where we will ask about your workplace and what your organization may have implemented to help with the mental wellness of your workplace. We depend on your help so that we can assist many other similar workplaces that may not have the programs that you have. Together, we will be able to support each other improve workplaces and reduce mental health risks.

Our plan is to highlight selected workplace policies/ programs so that other workplaces can see what you have, what is working, how it is helping so they can use these to replicate this approach.

Thank you for caring and thank you for sharing.
