At My Mountain Coop and Shames Mountain we endeavour to provide a family centric and inclusive environment for members and patrons to enjoy. To date, we have not been able to provide proper lodge and washroom accessibility for all. Improving access to our amenities has become a top priority and we are currently in the planning phase. We have had a professional assessment completed but before we proceed, we are looking for the important input of our users. Please complete the survey below to help us ensure this project is meaningful and useful.
Current proposal for lodge accessibility:
- A platform lift will be installed at the looker’s right side of stairs with 2 landings – main floor and sundeck.
- Power doors will be added to the existing double door on main floor.
- A new power door will be installed to replace the sundeck door.
- Threshold ramps will be installed for all doors.
- Accessible stalls will be created in the indoor men’s and women’s bathrooms.

Anticipated barriers:
- Travel over packed snow in a wheelchair or with other mobility aids (canes/ walkers/ crutches etc.) to access the platform lift.
- This proposal does not cover access to other buildings such as the locker room or rental shop. We anticipate significant updates to these buildings in coming years and will incorporate accessibility at that time unless this is identified as a high priority by users.
