Every single day, NSW Ambulance paramedics are leaving the state for better paying jobs. The current induction class – bright eyed and bushy tailed graduates ready to start their careers – has already lost two classmates to the Queensland Ambulance Service, leaving only twelve graduates in the final class of 2023 (in a class that should be of least 50). At the other end of the scale, the Service is also losing highly skilled paramedics with years of experience.
 
However, when ADHSU delegates raised this major issue during negotiations with the NSW government representatives it was downplayed or denied. Either the government has their head in the sand about the huge number of paramedics they are losing, or they are trying to gaslight members into thinking that there’s no urgency to this pay claim.
 
Well, members know that’s not true. Pay parity is urgent and necessary to save this crumbling ambulance service. To prove just how real this issue is, ADHSU delegates are putting out the call for all paramedic members who are very seriously considering or planning to leave within the next six months to fill out the below survey if they are willing to put their name down as one of the paramedics that the government denies exist.
