Nomination form for the Holocaust Studies in Translation book series |
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Cornell University Press are pleased to announce a new scholarly book series: Holocaust Studies in Translation. This interdisciplinary series will showcase cutting-edge scholarship from Eastern Europe to make it accessible to an English-speaking audience.
The Museum’s Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies is soliciting nominations for books to consider for translation and publication in the ongoing series. We are primarily interested in recent scholarly monographs published in Eastern Europe, but will also consider other works (such as edited volumes) that fulfill the goals of the series: to bring attention to significant scholarly works from the region that, when translated, will make a broader contribution to the field, and that without support from the Museum would face difficulty being translated and published in English.
Use this form to submit a nomination to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies. Nominations must be submitted by someone other than the author.
The nomination should include the following materials in English:
· A biography of the author (approximately 200 words) or CV
· A detailed description of the book (approximately 750 words) that includes the book’s key questions, argument, sources, method, and table of contents
· A letter of nomination (maximum 1 page) that explains the strengths of the book and its contribution to the field
The submission deadline is November 15, 2024. Academic Publications will send an email to the nominator confirming receipt after it has reviewed the submission. Successful authors will be contacted in spring 2025. Send questions to academicpublications@ushmm.org.
