Dear fellow Virginian:
Will you help us improve access to legal help in Virginia? We hope so!
The Virginia Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission and the Virginia State Bar’s Entry, Growth, and Distribution of Virginia Attorneys Study Committee want to hear about your experiences in getting—or trying to get—a lawyer, in navigating the court system, and what happened to you, your family, or your small business if you did not obtain legal help. We welcome your suggestions on using the courts and increasing access to legal help, and plan to take what we learn from this survey and several public meetings across the Commonwealth to develop responses and solutions. (Please note that our focus is on experiences with civil, not criminal, proceedings and situations.)
We want you to be candid about your experiences with the legal system and ask for your name and contact information so we can follow up with questions or invite you to speak at one of our public hearings, however, you can also remain anonymous.
Thank you very much for helping us. Please contact the Access Commission’s listening tour committee chair Andrea Bridgeman at bridgemanesq@gmail.com or 703-216-9310 or the State Bar committee’s chair David Neumeyer at davidn@vlas.org or 434-455-3090 with any questions or comments that you might have about this survey or the initiative to increase access to justice.
