Listen to both parties and work together to reach a reasonable conclusion.

Put off discussing the issue, hoping they'll resolve it themselves.

Resolve the issue quickly and fairly, even if it means partial satisfaction for each party.

Set aside 30 minutes to meditate and work through the issue as a group.

Question Title

* Your supervisor asks if you can come in to work on your day off to help with a project. How do you respond?

Offer to work a half-day, preserving the morning for personal activities.

Hold off on responding and hope they just won’t ask again.

Firmly decline, stating you will not come in on your days off.

Keep current plans but ask to explore alternative ways to be helpful at a different time.

Ask for an explanation of why you need to be there and change plans if the explanation is reasonable.

* How do you address a team member consistently being late?

Discuss the issue with someone of higher authority and ask for advice.

Offer a ride to work or during lunch – maybe they need some help.

Ignore the lateness, as it's none of your business.

Offer to adjust their schedule going forward, but emphasize the expectation for punctuality if that change is made.

Confront the individual and implement consequences.

Question Title

* A colleague complained to your manager about something you did. How do you handle it?

Pretend to be unaware of the complaint to avoid trouble.

Confront the colleague directly to defend your position.

Promise improved behavior and ask your colleague to approach you directly about any issues in the future.

Apologize right away. If someone was offended, it should be made right.

Discuss the problem as a group with the colleague and manager to understand the issue better for the future.

* Your lunch is missing from the fridge. How do you react?

Talk casually with colleagues to identify who made the mistake.

Maybe the person responsible doesn’t have lunch for some reason – you’ll bring an extra lunch next week just in case.

Even if you’re irritated, you ignore it to avoid confrontation.

Label your lunch containers clearly with your name in the future.

Find out who took it and confront them.

* Your department has been asked to correct an error your team didn't cause. What do you do?

You have too much to do already. Only help if you are directly instructed.

Offer to help correct the error after completing your work for the day.

Delegate tasks within the team to fix the issue together.

Advocate that it's unfair to expect your department to fix it on top of the current workload.

If you can find a solution, you offer your own time despite your current workload.

Question Title

* During a presentation, you notice colleagues whispering to each other. Then one of them asks a question that was already explained. How do you respond?

Assume they genuinely missed the explanation and answer their question.

Ask another attentive colleague to explain the information for another’s perspective.

Call them out, saying they should have been paying attention, and re-explain very briefly.

You don’t want to be responsible for any mistakes they make because of missing the information, so you explain it again in full.

Arrange a post-meeting review with them to revisit the information together.

Ask the manager to be mindful of what they say and offer to help with their issue.

The comment made you uncomfortable - politely excuse yourself from the conversation.

Discuss the issue with another trusted manager for guidance.

Seek clarification on the manager's issue with the colleague. Maybe the manager didn’t really mean to say it like that.

Immediately tell the manager their comment was inappropriate and report the incident.

Consider the customer's situation and waive the fee if possible.

Offer a partial fee waiver as a compromise.

Transfer the irate customer to another representative or supervisor.

Remind the customer of their contractual obligations and decline the waiver.

Consult with a supervisor for a solution and present it to the customer.
