Toxic Work Experiences
Informed Consent
Taking part in this study is entirely optional. If you change your mind, you may stop at any time. You can skip any question you don't want to respond to.
This study aims to explore how negative experiences in the workplace, such as bullying, harassment, safety concerns, isolation, and emotional abuse, affect employees. Traditionally, workplace behavior studies have focused mainly on positive emotions and solutions, without paying much attention to negative experiences. The study is trying to fill that gap by understanding how these adverse experiences impact important organizational outcomes (like employee engagement, turnover, and overall wellbeing). In short, it's about figuring out how bad experiences at work affect how people feel about their jobs and their companies.
It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete, with 20 multiple choice questions and a set of demographic questions.
A report with the main findings will be released to the public. Anyone who responds and opts in will be given a complimentary copy of global benchmarks (a $300 value). Teams of 3 or more can get custom Team Reports (e.g., a team of 3 wants to take the survey and get private results which will not be publicly available).
Your responses will never be analyzed with your personally identifiable information attached to it. All information will be kept confidential and reported anonymously with a minimum of 10 responses required for public reporting (e.g., 10 people from the Medical industry have to respond before results are shared) and the agreed upon threshold for team reports.
Some of our questions may feel different than the standard employee survey. Our research is based on Adverse Childhood Experiences and their application to adult experiences in the workplace. While there are minimal risks to taking this survey, it asks about topics some may find stressful. If you find yourself in distress, please call your local helpline. If you're in the US, use the the NAMI HelpLine: 1-800-950-6264, text “helpline” to 62640, or chat online.
