Oregon Non-Motorized Boating Program |
1. Read This Before Starting Survey
For the past five years the Oregon State Marine Board has been engaging with the paddlesports community to learn how the Marine Board can better meet the needs of the community. Through this initiative, the Marine Board convened the Non-Motorized Boating Advisory Committee. Outreach through a series of public meetings across the state, an online survey, and meetings of the Non-Motorized Boating Advisory Committee resulted in a unanimous recommendation of the Committee to recommend to the Board a Non-Motorized Boating Program that includes elements to address access, safety, education and funding (the Non-Motorized Project web page contains complete meeting minutes and reports that form the basis for this recommendation). As an outcome of this process the Marine Board is proposing legislation for the 2017 legislative session (review complete legislative draft). American Whitewater does not currently have a position on this legislation but through this survey we are seeking feedback as we formulate our position and approach.
