Question Title

* 2. President Elect Nominee: Amy Kilen

Amy Kilen is originally from Rochester, Minnesota. She went to undergrad at South Dakota State University (go Jacks!). Amy spent her high school and college years working as a CNA in nursing homes and group homes which is where her passion for geriatric care budded. After graduation, she worked briefly as a cardiac step down nurse before moving to Baltimore to join the cardiac ICU team where she worked for close to a decade before pursing her AGNP degree at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Since graduation, Amy has had the privilege to follow her passion for geriatrics by serving the community with a career in home-based primary care with the Johns Hopkins Home-based primary care program.

* 3. Treasurer Nominee: Nomy Thomas Jacob

Nomy Thomas Jacob's passion for nursing dates back many years. Nomy has had 22 years of experience as a nurse working both overseas in India and the United states. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice specializing in Adult Gerontology Primary Care from University of Maryland in May 2020. She currently works as a nurse practitioner at the Medstar Center for Successful Aging. Nomy's passion is to get more geriatric experience, provide the most quality and compassionate care to the elderly population and lead future geriatric NPs on this journey. Outside of these roles, she loves making jewelry, painting and travelling.

* 4. Secretary Nominee (2nd Term): Safiya Steward

Safiya Steward is a Nurse Practitioner who is ANCC certified in Adult and Geriatric Primary Care. She has more than twelve years of experience providing care to Geriatric patients in long-term care, assisted living, and home settings. For three years she provided inpatient palliative care to patients with chronic and terminal diagnoses while working at Holy Cross Hospital.  She has a passion for not only caring for Geriatric patients but also educating patients and families about advanced care planning. She received her bachelor's and Masters's in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. Safiya has served as GAPNA Maryland Chapter Secretary from 2021-2022 and is running for a second term.
