The purpose of this survey is to learn about current information and workshops about GBV being offered by settlement agencies for newcomer, immigrant, and refugee clients.
We are asking settlement organizations to share:
· What kinds of GBV workshops, information sessions, or other educational activities are being offered by their agency and/or other settlement agencies in their region.
· Specific links to GBV workshop content and/or names of workshop facilitators we can contact for copies of existing workshops.
· Your perspective on needs and supports about GBV that may exist for newcomer clients in your region.
The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You will not be required to provide your name unless you choose to do so.
Findings from this survey will be used to inform the development of new materials and resources for GBV education that can address knowledge gaps and complement what already exists. Any resources created will be made available to settlement agencies through this project.
We appreciate your participation! You can read more about the project below. Contact Kathryn Bates-Khan at kathryn.bateskhan@halifax.ymca.ca if you have any questions about the project and Caroline Claussen at c3inc@shaw.ca if you have any questions about this survey.
About the project:
In April 2019, with funding from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), four organizations from the anti-violence and settlement sectors partnered to begin collaborative work on developing a national strategy to address Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for newcomers, immigrants, and refugees.
One of the strategic priorities of the GBV Settlement Sector Strategy is to increase access to accurate, clear, and consistent information and resources for newcomers, immigrants, and refugees about GBV.
