Call for workshop proposals now open: "Innovative Practices and Partnerships to Bridge the Gaps

The Assessment Center Symposium will be held in Columbus, Ohio on July 23 - 24, 2025. Presentations are expected to be 60 minutes in length with 15 minutes for questions (75 minutes total). The NAC will prioritize presentations that are inclusive of youth and families with lived experience and address equity in access to community-based supports and justice diversion.

The symposium is designed to highlight the innovative practices and partnership happening within the Assessment Center community. Existing and developing Assessment Centers are encouraged to submit proposals that highlight the following:

  • New or innovative community or system partnerships
  • Data-informed decision-making or data-driven innovation
    Youth and family partnerships
  • Success and barriers of Assessment Center development or expansion
  • Population-based approaches (i.e., gender, race, geographic, etc.)
  • Reducing racial and ethnic disparities
  • Adapting to change (I.e., leadership, partnerships, system practices, etc.)
  • Staff recruitment and retention
  • Funding and sustainability
  • Addressing transportation or service access issues
  • "Marketing" your Assessment Center
  • Leveraging technology to serve youth and families
  • Other topics focused on trends in youth, family and community needs.

We also encourage proposals from those with subject matter expertise that could help support Assessment Centers and community in the work they do to divert and prevent system involvement.

  • Reducing racial and ethnic disparities
  • Youth and Family Engagement
  • Screening and assessment processes and tools
  • Case management approaches
  • Increasing protective factors in youth and families
  • Leveraging or increasing community and service provider capacity
  • Staff support and development
  • Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Other topics focused on trends in youth, family and community needs
