2023 DRAMA Units 3&4 Part B: Supervising Teacher Pre-enrolment Form |
It is expected that schools will support their students undertaking study at VSV by assigning a member of staff to act as a School Supervisor. The Department of Education and Training provide 0.1 EFT to staff time fraction at their mainstream school, in recognition of the support provided to the student’s VSV studies.
Future supervisors should review the Nominated School Supervisor requirements document to familiarise themselves with the role. Additionally, the VSV Senior School Team will hold an information session at the beginning of the school year to provide information and support for supervisors. It is the duty of supervisors and subject teachers liaise with each other to support the student undertaking study with VSV.
Course content is online in VSV Online. Students have access to VSV Online when enrolment is finalised. VSV also uses Google apps including Drive and Classroom as well as Webex to deliver online lessons.
As VCE Drama is a practical subject there are scheduled VSV in-person workshops. It is strongly advised that all students attend and if impractical due to distance, participation via live stream on some occasions is possible.
Collaborating to devise an Ensemble entirely online is not possible and does not meet the VCAA Study Design requirements.
The technical requirements and time associated with in-person workshop days, means that students studying Unit 3 & 4 Drama with VSV do require the supervisors to provide increased support.

This includes:
- Ensuring there is a dedicated Drama space in the home school where the student can participate in online lessons that will include physical activities;
- Facilitating communication and regular rehearsal times in the dedicated Drama space, and;
- Ensuring students are aware of and supported to attend the in-person activities. These include: workshops being held at VSV, the presentation of the performances and a professional performance*.
*Note that the professional performance is chosen by VSV teachers from the VCAA Drama Playlist published annually in November of the previous year. There will be an opt-in excursion for students to attend an additional production from the playlist. This gives students a breadth of theatre experiences and a choice of production to write about in the end-of-year written examination.
