The International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) (http://www.iamse.org) and MedU (http://www.med-u.org/) are collaborating to develop MedU Science- a new course consisting of 12-15 virtual patients - that will provide medical educators with a ready-made approach for integrating core basic science concepts into the clinical training focused years. We anticipate that MedU Science will be ready for pilot testing in July 2015 and available by subscription in 2016.
The cases will focus on causal mechanisms of disease and therapy, and will incorporate self-assessment questions to allow students to review their foundational knowledge retention. MedU Science faculty resources, including application exercises for team-based learning, flipped classroom and other active learning pedagogies will facilitate basic science and clinical faculty partnering to teach in the classroom during the clinical years.
We're asking for 7 minutes of your time to assist us in gauging interest in subscriptions to the MedU Science virtual patient course, and determining the most important and useful pedagogical features.
