Due to recent changes in our permitting structure under the new Food Service and Retail Ordinance, we are reclassifying permit types to better serve our community. By answering a few questions, you can use this as a guide to get an initial idea of the permit that best suits your needs.

Vend: The act of selling, trading, bartering or giving away.

Food Service: Provides meal service to order or buffet style for dine in or to go and includes restaurants, hotel breakfasts, schools, nursing homes, shelters, and other institutional kitchens.

Mobile Food: A vehicle mounted, self-contained, and designed to be readily movable from location to location (includes push carts, trailers, and smokers).

Food Processor: Manufactures, labels, and packages food for wholesale or other off-site distribution.

Retail Food: Vends food for off-site consumption such as grocery stores, gas stations, and warehouses.

Catering: Providing a pre-determined number of meals for an off-site location.

Commissaries: Allows other food establishments to use the permitted space to operate. A commissary permit is not required when the owners of the Mobile Food Establishment, Catering Food Establishment, or Temporary Food Establishment and the commissary are the same.

Concessions: A Food Establishment that operates seasonally as part of a venue whose primary purpose is not the sale of Food.
