Hello!

The United States Hunter Jumper Association’s Horse and Rider Advocates Committee humbly requests your input regarding the practice of shoe pulling for Hunter under saddle classes at HJ competitions. Over the last few years, the committee has been working to address member concerns surrounding the practice in relation to the welfare of the horse.

The HRA Committee has been tasked with providing education to the membership about the importance of making safe and appropriate shoeing decisions for riding/showing horses. The Horse and Rider Advocates hope that surveying farriers for their input on the practice and their recommendations for thoughtful shoeing and hoof care would help the committee better provide education about the practice and more appropriately respond to member concerns. The American Farriers Journal has kindly agreed to help distribute this survey. All responses are anonymous, and answers will be used for educational purposes only.

We thank you so much for your time and willingness to assist with the project!
