Feedback for this consultation will close at 5pm on Friday the 8th of September, 2023.
Connexis | Te Pūkenga has been co-designing with an industry reference group to develop and deliver the Introduction to the Electricity Supply Industry Micro-credential. The development of this micro-credential is to provide a structured pathway for Gateway students are interested in entering the Electricity Supply Industry. Additionally, it has been noted during discussions that this proposed micro-credential could also be relevant for individuals in administrative roles within the industry, as network owners often require them to complete the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Introductory) (Level 2) with a strand in Electrical Works.
This micro-credential is the first of two proposed micro-credentials. The first part focuses on theoretical foundations, while the second component integrates both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, building upon the concepts introduced in the initial Electricity Supply Industry Micro-credential. It is proposed that on the completion of both micro-credentials and a first aid course the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Introductory) (Level 2) with a strand in Electrical Works would be awarded.
We are now wanting to hear from a wider industry voice as to if there would be industry uptake of this micro-credential for their employees.
The Introduction to the Electricity Supply Industry Micro-credential has been designed to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have foundational industry knowledge to be able to work safely on an electricity supply worksite and understand the industry.
